10% of the general population has DIABETES, Diabetes may cause weakening of blood vessel walls, which leads to blood leaking into  retinal tissue. We take pictures of the retina of both eyes of all Diabetics to look for this leakage

AGE RELATED MACULAR DEGENERATION occurs when the photo sensitive retinal cells age and deteriorate 

leaving the person with blurred  vision. This  most often develops when a person is in their 70's, 80's, or 90's. We use an internationally known and simple, 4 minute test to screen for early signs of macular degeneration.

 GLAUCOMA most of the time has no symptoms until there is permanent vision loss. If left untreated, glaucoma can leave a person with irreversible total blindness.  The screening process entails taking the pressure of the eye and if the pressure is outside of an acceptable criteria, a referral is made for further diagnosis or treatment .

 10% of children under 5 years old and 25% of school age children have vision or eye problems.  

As people age, the number of people needing glasses increases significantly. 

Those in their 70's, 80's and 90's may also 

need LOW VISION devices to help them see.

.  Amblyopia (Lazy Eye) usually starts to develop in the first couple of years of life.  Amblyopia occurs when one eye is stronger than the other and the brain shuts down the weak eye.  Amblyopia needs to be diagnosed by age 5 and remedied by age 7 or 8 or the person most likely will have  permanent visual impairment in the weak eye.

Studies show that 4 % of the population has Amblyopia.

 A Cataract occurs when the focusing lens of the eye, which is normally crystal clear, begins to get hazy or cloudy causing blurred vision. Cataracts are easy removed through a short surgical procedure.
